How to make Baby Wipes

With society constantly changing everyone is always looking for new ways to save a little money. Making your own baby wipes is a way to do this and they are very simple to make. If you make two batches at a time they will last whole lot longer.

These wipes have no alcohol in them so they are also better for your baby's skin. Which is great when you have a child that gets alot of diaper rash. I used regular wipes with my first child, and let me tell you spent lots of money, not to mention all the diaper rash. Felt so sorry for that child. With these you spend less money, you child has less diaper rash, and it is made up of things that you should already have on hand for your baby/child.

Here is how you can make simple baby wipes:

Keep in mind that the wipes are going to need to soak to absorb all the water for atleast two hours, but they come out looking great.

Materials Needed:
1 roll of Bounty (this is what is preferred, you can use other brands. Such as Sparkle like I use) Cheap Dollar General brand does not work it tears to easily and for some reason doesn't set up as well.

1 TBSP of Baby Oil

2 TBSP of Baby Soap

2 1/2 cups of water

1. Take the Paper towels off the paper towel roll and cut them in half.
Take your paper towels and tear them off one by one. Lay them one on top of the other. Then cut them in half width ways or how ever you would like. I like to cut mine width ways. Let them set while you do the next step.

Just a FYI

If you make two batches just have two rolls of paper towels ready. If you buy the Bounty double rolls you will only need one roll of those. You can get a six pack of those from Dollar General for $10.00. Since you only have to use one of these for two batches of wipes it is cheaper for me because you have to use two rolls in a six pack of sparkle, but it is whatever is cheaper for you.

2. Combine the water, baby oil, and baby soap in a fairly good sized bowl that has a lid.
In a bowl mix 1 TBSP of Oil, 2 TBSP of baby soap, and 21/2 cups of water. Stir well.

3. Put the paper towels in the water
This is what you do with the paper towels. You put stack by stack into the mixture. The paper towels will automatically start absorbing. Don't be afraid to let your hands get soapy and wet. The more paper towels you put in the mixture, the more you will have to push them down into the mixture. Once you have all the paper towels into the mixture put the lid on the bowl and let it set for about two hours to absorb.. FYI you can let them set over night if need be. In fact I leave mine in the bowl until I need them.

4. Finally put your homemade wipes in a carrying wipes container
Get some kind of container to carry your wipes with you wherever you go so they will be handy. When your wipes are done you just place them in the container with a lid and go to using your simply cheap made wipes.

Now you can see how easy this is and how it save a few dollar. I am definantly for that and your child will love that they don't have to hurt from diaper rash and they will also smell alot better.

So have fun making your simple baby wipes. I know it will make you feel a whole lot better not having to spend money on more and more wipes. I feel a huge relief from it.
FYI

If you make two batches of wipes just double the recipe.

Thanks very much for this article, we seem to spend fortunes on both wipes and nappies and still manage to run out. I'm not 100% convinced that these will be cheaper than buying a packet but will no doubt be more eco friendly and excellent in emergencies so thanks again.

Wow! Creating your own baby wipes! Talk about resourceful! That is such a great idea. Those of us who have little babies can attest to the fact that baby supplies can be very costly when you add them up in the long run. It is nice to read ideas like this that help you get the job done for cheaper. All it takes is some ingenuity, a desire to save money, and (oh yes) a lack of money! (If you had tons of money you probably wouldn't do this but it is a great idea nonetheless.)
